PIKETON-Garrett Eugene Moore, 74, of Piketon, Ohio formerly of Portsmouth, Ohio passed away Monday morning August 30, 2021 at his residence. Garrett was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on May 17, 1947, a son of the late Harold Edwin Moore and Mary Ruth Moore. On May 27, 1965 he married his wife of 56 years, Minnie Louise Holbrook Moore. Garrett was a pastor of Meade Pentecostal Church for 17 years and Catlettsburg Pentecostal Church for 5 years. He was also a meat cutter, milkman and worked at Burger Chef. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Moore; his grandparents, Garrett and Nellie Leslie and William and Pearl Moore; two brothers, Ronald Moore and Donald Moore; mother and father-in-law, Gussie and Blanche Holbrook; three sisters-in-law, Kim Bryant Moore, Kathy Jean Holbrook and Brenda Sue Holbrook; two brothers-in-law, George Roe and Butch Burchett. Garrett is survived by three daughters, Joyce (Andy) Poole of Lake City, FL, Brenda (Jim, deceased) Councillor of Piketon and Melissa (David, deceased) Harmon of Piketon; a son, Garrett (Anita) Moore of Wheelersburg; one sister, Sylvia Munion of Sciotoville; two sisters-in-law, Alice Roe of Grayson, KY and Mary Burchett of South Webster; two brothers-in-law, Jim Munion of Sciotoville and Samuel Holbrook of South Webster; a nephew, (like a brother), David (Barb) Holbrook of Grove City, OH; ten grandchildren, Nicole (Jacob) Johnson of Lake City, FL, three children, Greg (Danielle) Poole, of Lake City, FL, one child, David Harmon of Piketon, three children, Heather (Dustin) Councillor of Portsmouth, five children, Charity (Aaron) Slusher of Wheelersburg, five children, Megan (Lucinda) Councillor of Portsmouth, Aja (Amanda) Councillor of Piketon, two children, Joshua Harmon of Piketon, Garrett (Taylor) Moore of Wheelersburg, two children, Baylee (Kayleigh) Moore of Wheelersburg, one child. In addition to these, Garrett is survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Services for Garrett will be 12:00 pm noon Friday, September 3, 2021 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Mike Leslie officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Carter County, KY. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 11:00 am until the noon service on Friday. Brett Young

29 years ago this month Jennifer and I were blessed to be married by Mr. Garrett Moore. I can still hear him tell us what is important in a marriage, “Keep yourselves nice for each other”. The Young’s will miss Mr. Moore and our thoughts will be with his great family during their time of loss.
