WHEELERSBURG-Irene Thompson, 86, of Wheelersburg, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Hillview Health Care Center in Portsmouth. Irene was born August 8, 1935 in Elliott County Kentucky to the late Wick Weddington and Alpha Adkins Weddington. Irene was a high school graduate and a domestic engineer and also business owner of Gary’s Pizza. Irene was a member of Union Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Lee Thompson, December 28, 2006, whom she married April 18, 1953 in Wheelersburg. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Culler; three sisters, Darlene Thomas, Myrtle Hanes and Josie Rase and a granddaughter, Chasity Thompson. Irene is survived by two sons, Bill (Karlene) Thompson and Rick (Linda) Thompson; five daughters, Terri (Jess) Hurd, Sherri (Randy) Campbell, Paula (Scott) Sampson, Pam (Danny) McManus and Christy Bahner; fifteen grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren.
Services for Irene will be 11:00 am Friday, July 15, 2022 at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg with Pastor Zach Conkel officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5:00-8:00 pm Thursday, July 14, 2022 and one hour before the 11:00 am service on Friday.
