Joan "JoAnn" Hall
1940 - 2026

Joan “JoAnn” Prater Hall, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, September 20, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. JoAnn was born September 16, 1940, to the late Stanley and Stella Prater. She married the love of her life, Paul Hall, on June 16, 1956. Together, JoAnn and Paul raised three children: Sheila (Jim) Wooten of Circleville, Rose (Leonard) Tackett of Wheelersburg, and Tim (Terry) Hall of Wheelersburg. JoAnn was a faithful Christian woman whose faith was an important part of her life. When able, she attended Minford Bible Baptist Church. She was also a longtime member of the SOMC Volunteer Guild, where she generously gave her time serving others. JoAnn loved spending time with her family, playing games with her grandchildren, and sharing memories and stories about her life. She cherished the time spent with those she loved and will be deeply missed by so many. Along with her parents and husband, JoAnn was preceded in death by her brother, Golden Prater of Dayton. JoAnn is survived by her sister, Vonderene Wilson of Middletown; her brothers, Jim Prater of Oregon and Rodney Prater of Lebanon; her 10 grandchildren, Michelle (Gary) Stringer, Brent (Crystal) Tackett, Brandy (Mike) Stamey, Christy (Kenny) Yoak, Candy Tackett, Erica (Martin) Warner, Jimmy (Ashley) Wooten, Erin (Alex) Prater, Anthony (Amy) Wooten, and Elista (Derek) Lewis; 27 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. JoAnn leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved her dearly. She will be remembered for her strong faith, her willingness to serve others, the love she shared, the stories she told, and the many moments she created with her family. The family would like to give a special thank you to SOMC Hospice for their outstanding care, kindness, and service. A funeral service will be 1:00pm, Friday, September 25, 2026, at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home, 11623 Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg, OH with Pastor Brett McGraw officiating. Burial will follow in Junior Furnace Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
